From our early years we are fascinated by buildings and the character and intrinsic worth in it. We love abandoned buildings and places. It’s a challenge to give them a new role. A building should embrace the user. This old canal house is curated by us and receive a complete renovation to restore its unique character. And now its there to be a spot for you to have a great stay in this colonial building.

Build by a former colonial trader creating a fortune doing business in the Carib. Now we show that trade should be done in a fair way by offering you an example of a space that’s created with fair products that honoured the makers paying them fair lones to have a good living.

The products are made in developing countries, made by people with a disability or local made by artisans. And we work with refugees to create a good living for them.

The joyjoyjoy spaces are designed aiming creating sustainable, comfortable stylish spaces for you. The materials and products used are eco, fair, and pure. We believe making a better world is creating a sustainable spaces for as much people as possible. Thats why we work also in Africa to create spaces for the people without a home, thanks to your stay. That will make your dreams in this space even more sweet.

The name of the house Tropics at the Canals is related to the role of this house in the old times doing trade in the tropics. And by investing in ecology and social welfare we build on the new fair economy. As altruism creates more joyjoyjoy than egoism. In the space you find a humouristic expo with all kind of attributes, design and art telling a story that inspires you about the joyjoyjoy lifestyle. A lifestyle that makes you more happy and UP-grades your living. And we hope you take that home to make a joyjoyjoy living there.

The Lush Green Space

We design travel spaces, solo spaces, business spaces, event spaces and horeca spaces. In the spaces we integrate the Happy Healthy Honourly Harmony joyjoyjoy life style. It inspires you to steer on your optimal happy living and at the same time UP-grading your world.

The Green Lush Spaces is filled with a carib atmosphere in all sorts of green colour tones. In every detail you find the story of the carib. The antique wall behind the bed is a painting underscoring this story.

The comfy bed is made from recycled textile made in the Netherlands. The microfibre linnen is so susty because it saves a lot of energy in the laundry cyclus. The old wooden beams and wooden floor are original and ages old. The isolating window curtains saves a lot of energy in wintertime.

A comfortabel and fair stay for you

In this family canal house you find all ingredients to have a comfy and fair stay. The bathroom is dressed with Italian marble. The soaps are ecolicious. In the kitchenette you find stylish ingredients. The fair made cups and plates are made in developing countries. Fair trade coffee and teas are waiting for your arrival in wooden bowls from Africa.

From the sunny windows you overlook the classic canals where the water offers a livingly painting that is magic every moment of the day. At the bordes you can sit on the bench in the sun, like a real Amsterdam inhabitant, enjoying the views and the sun sipping your tea or wine.

The Botanic District

The Tropics at the Canals is positioned in the most green part of the canal area. The Botanical garden in in your back garden. Opposite of it you find the Wertheim park and a stroll further is the big green zoo. A stone throw away is the Amstel River where the boats move gentle on the waves. The H’Art museum is positioned there with a lovely green garden hiding one of the most romantic restaurants.

But is also next to the middle of the bustling centre. Walk to the Rembrandt Square where you find all the bars and clubs, or the Utrechtsestraat where locals do there shoppings in unique specialised shops. Or go just to the right where you find the big shopping streets and the Waterloo plein with the famous Flea market. Or jump to the Red light District that is 10 minutes walking. Here you are in the middle of all the pleasure. We are there to host you and inform you about all the famous spots or the local hidden gems.
